Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
The Gold Standard of Therapy
CBT is one of the most popular modalities of therapy. Psychological research has shown its effectiveness across many mental health issues. It looks at the connection between thoughts and behaviours to help us make actionable changes in our lives. In simplest terms, it helps us break old habits and build new ones. We use CBT most often in treatment for anxiety, eating disorders, and body image.
Mindfulness
The practice of being present
We often combine mindfulness with CBT to help catch your triggers by increasing self-awareness. Mindfulness is often mistaken for meditation which is just one way to practice mindfulness. In reality there are many ways to practice mindfulness. Your therapist can offer you personal ways to engage in mindfulness and ultimately increase your psychological flexibility and resilience.
Intuitive Eating
Healing your relationship with food
We all have dieted or restricted at some point, and thanks to diet culture, some of us don't know how to quit. But what we do know is that yo-yo dieting doesn't work longterm. Overtime, all we're left with is a strained relationship with food and our bodies. Feelings of being out of control around food or hating our bodies. Intuitive eating can help you get back to the roots of eating for fuel and even enjoyment in sharing food as a way of connecting with others.
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)
How we deal with things outside of our control
Maybe you feel like you've done everything you can and things still aren't getting any better. We understand how defeating that can be, or how you might also have feelings of disappointment and hopelessness. No matter what, we are there for you and we want to help you find ways of living with the hard parts of life so you can enjoy the good.
Child Therapy
Support for children and adolescents Age 7+
Our therapists are well equipped to support children from ages 7 and up both virtually and in-person. We have experience working with youth in different settings to know how to balance patience and development. We use strength-based perspectives to help kids develop skills in emotion regulation as well as building other healthy habits.
