Let's Get Personal

Alex, owner of Honu Mental Health

Hey there, I'm Alexandria Wong, RP, Clinical Director here at Honu Mental Health. As someone who's walked the path of mental health struggles, I know firsthand how daunting the stigma can be. But here's the thing—I believe that everyone deserves a safe space, a place where they can unravel their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.

Throughout my own journey, I've been deeply grateful for those who normalized my struggles, guiding me towards comfort and understanding. Now, I'm on a mission to pay it forward, to create that same sense of solace for others navigating life's unpredictable challenges.

With a non-judgmental and client-centred approach, I aim to understand your story in its entirety. From multiculturalism to social justice and systemic issues, I bring a holistic perspective to our conversations. Because having a safe place to share your truth can shift negative self-talk towards self-compassion—a transformative journey I'm honored to walk alongside you.

My commitment to providing specialized care is reflected in my certifications. I'm certified in Eating Disorder Sensitivity by Body Peace Collaborative, equipped to provide sensitive support for those navigating complex relationships with food and body image. I've also completed courses in Treating Persistent Concussion Symptoms Effectively and hold a Coach 1 certification from Hockey Canada. Furthermore, my dedication to cultural understanding led me to complete the Indigenous Canada course from the University of Alberta.

My Journey

With a deep familial tie to Hawaii and its culture, I've always felt a calling to provide a safe haven for others. That’s why I chose the name Honu, which means green sea turtle in the Hawaiian language. My background in science and psychology, coupled with personal experiences with mental health, informs my practice. I'm here to offer support and management for a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, disordered eating, body image concerns, sports psychology, high-performance pressures, cultural dynamics, self-esteem, and relationship challenges.

At Honu Mental Health, my aim is simple—to help you find the right fit and the right help as you embark on your journey towards understanding and self-discovery. Let's walk this path together.
