Welcome To Honu

Alex, owner of Honu Mental Health

Hey there, I'm Alexandria Wong. I am a Registered Psychotherapist as well as the Clinical Director and owner of Honu Mental Health. I created this platform to help others find better ways of facing their mental health struggles. I know firsthand how daunting the stigma can be and how difficult it is to navigate the healthcare system. But, I believe that everyone deserves a safe space, a place where they can unravel their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.

Throughout my own journey, I've been deeply grateful for those who normalized my struggles, guiding me towards comfort and understanding. Now, I'm on a mission to pay it forward, to create that same sense of solace for others navigating life's unpredictable challenges.

Our job as therapists is to transform scientifically-proven treatments into a personalized plan that is unique to your health and wellbeing. We stay up to date on the latest studies and techniques in psychology so you can thrive and reach the best version of yourself.

Training & Certifications

My commitment to providing specialized care is reflected in my certifications. I am a certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor and have training in Eating Disorder Sensitivity by Body Peace Collaborative, equipped to provide sensitive support for those navigating complex relationships with food and body image. I've also completed courses in Treating Persistent Concussion Symptoms Effectively and hold a Coach 1 certification from Hockey Canada. Furthermore, my dedication to cultural understanding led me to complete the Indigenous Canada course from the University of Alberta.

What is Honu?

With a deep familial tie to Hawaii and its culture, I've always felt a calling to provide a safe haven for others. That’s why I chose the name Honu, which not only means green sea turtle in the Hawaiian language, but also represents many of life's virtues. Honu symbolizes wisdom and guidance, resilience and longevity, all characteristics that we search for throughout our life experiences.

At Honu Mental Health, we want to help you find everything that Honu represents. It's a pleasure to embark with you on your journey towards understanding and self-discovery. Let's walk this path together.
